Built in 1887, the building housed the sheriff
and his family downstairs.
The prisoner cells were upstairs.
The jailhouse was used until 1974.
The prisoners were jailed in three stories of cells, above
the sheriff's living quarters.
The sheriff's family lived safely on one side of the
jailhouse.
The museum offers local history displays, Floresville photos
and other historical memorabilia.
The jail could hold as many as 32 prisoners. A gallows
was built in the jail, but no hangings ever took place -- inside.
